Today we had a little guest appearance; the sun decided to come out for a moment and a half. If you think that waking up from the sun shining brightly on your face is annoying, then I need you to go on a dark empty hole and tell me all about it. It was magical. For many days since I've been here, it was the first time that I got a really good look at the sun. I got up, excited and flattered from the sun kisses, and ran to the kitchen to find my Host. I wanted to share the news with someone. Before I was able to form any words, he said "what are you doing, let's go!"
All this time since I've been here my very own room has been teasing me. The window that overlooks my bed is positioned ever so gently facing a nature reserve. Today my host dad took me there. It's a short walk but it is definitely worth it. A couple of minutes later and you feel like you are truly in the middle of some virgin field. Open, vast, and beautiful. We walked for maybe an hour. Over hills, net to forests overlooking ponds, into a small trail, following a charming stream, looking at the sky. It was everything I thank DIS for by putting me in a homestay. While my host told me all the wonderful stories he has of of coming to this field in the spring time, I mindlessly picked branches from the nearby trees. You can see them picture.
It is cold in Denmark. And, while that means no leafs and no blooming nature, there is so much life in the bark of trees. Moss grows. Birds sing to keep warm. Grasses are buried under snow. Just when you would think there is nothing there to keep you wandering, the moss was there to say "hey, you have something to look forward to!" Dark green and deep. The spring is coming.
I enjoyed the sun today. But, I enjoyed most the beautiful Danish landscape of vast fields, ponds and twisted trees!
