Sometimes someone comes along in your life who caters to your every need. You want to stay in bed and snuggle around Netflix? No problem at all, this person has already made the hot chocolate and brought the blanket to the couch. You want to go off into the day and be productive? easy as pie, this person will get in the car with you ready for a road trip. Been having a busy week and want to dance it off into the night? One step ahead of you, this person is already ordering drinks at the bar. This week Copenhagen was this person.
While in the day time you can infinitely wander into the life of the city, the night life can also be fun. I spent must of my days visiting neighborhoods, riding my bike into the life between buildings. Kids play around, people walk on pedestrian streets, little splashes of art excite blocks. In the day time, Copenhagen can be charming. It wants you to see more. It wants you to find the public plaza and experience the steps on the harbor. The day time rushes by in the bike lanes, it unfolds in the balcony of apartments and in the coffee shops. Once the night rolls in Copenhagen is luring. The bars are not huge. Everything about the city is close and drawn in at night. Bars have a sense of character that make it hard for you to leave: they are warm and crowded. One day I danced to funky tunes of 60 and 70s love songs and a mix of indie electronic. The other I enjoyed to pop rock and alternative sounds. We were all close to each other, it was cozy. No one cares, everyone dances. Everyone drinks beer, no one has a bad time.
This week Copenhagen stole my heart in the day and in the night.
